How would you approach that feature? Email based or browser-storage based or else?

Not sure yet. Maybe E-Mail and a cookie to have both cross-device and ease of use on the same machine.

There needs to be a concept before implementation. There is no concept yet. Open questions:

  • Is ability to edit from the very same device and browser enough or not?
  • If not, is there a way other than registration?
  • If not, who do you add registration without killing the low-friction user experience?

@hartwork Something like asking an email to the user when he votes, and if the user fills it, use as a registration-password-like. Because the "public" will just see a name and not an email.

If you can guess how that user is, you may be able to guess is e-mail though. That would make the e-mail a rather low entropy password :) Maybe that's a detail though, I think I still get the idea. Not a five minute thing to do though.

@LaQuay do you mean that when someone fills a vote then an email is sent with a "edit" link? Maybe this aproach can be used also for removing like in #30

That would turn delete-anyone's into delete-your-own. (Mainly for the record.)
