Not sure if there is already a way to track this. I could not find anything. However, I was thinking of something like a planner but for supply ordering.
Use Case
I plan a service/repair/upgrade first, if I do not always have the parts or tools need to an upcoming service/repair/upgrade. Then research and order/pickup the parts. Then once they arrive log them in to the supplies then add then re-create a planner activity with the new supplies. This process is missing the ability tracker the purchase/research process of the supplies.
Ideal Flow
I would love to be able to create a plan for a service/repair/upgrade and have a toggle to create of a related supply order record which I can edit and add the list of supplies needed to complete the planned activity. The ability to select there if the supplies should be added to the garage or car level supplies would be ideal.
The tracking for the supply order record would be similar to the planner but the following columns: Draft, Ordered, Done.
When the Supply Order is marked as Done, the supplies are added to the garage supplies/car supplies list.

I think this is similar to what I'm looking for also. I'd love to be able to track purchases (Supplier, Invoice, Price, Tax, Shipping, etc) and then have that feed into supplies.
Came here to suggest a feature like this. I'm currently planning a number of maintenance and upgrade tasks for a couple of my cars but I haven't ordered all the parts and consumables yet. I'd like to be able to put all my plans in with the requisite supplies noted, then generate a "parts needed" view of what I have to order.
