Ability to override read-only cells with populateFromArray and similar

I find it very annoying that I can't override read-only cells/columns with populateFromArray and similar. I would very much like to have a "force" argument or a "forcePopulateFromArray" to be able to do this when I replace data in a table.

Maybe there are ways to do this and I've just not found it?

You are right, there is no hidden key for the populateFromArray to force the readOnly cell to alter the value. You would need to call setDataAtCell for those cells separately. I also do not know if we would alter this behavior as that would trigger more changes (we use populateFromArray() internally as well).

However, adding a new parameter to the populateFromArray() may keep the logic that we have more or less untouched and at the time give developers more control over readOnly cells.

I would love to see this addressed any which way you feel is best. As long as I can populate a table with data even if the cells are read-only I'm happy :)

Would it be terribly inefficient to replace populateFromArray with a custom function that iterates the array intended for populateFromArray and run setDataAtCell for each cell? Maybe run it in a hot.batch(...)?

I remember that the setDataAtCell method also accepts an array of changes. Maybe this is what you are looking for @ottosson? demo

Oh! That can work. Not as simple as populateFromArray but gets the job done. Do you know if there are any performance differences between setDataAtCell and populateFromArray?

setDataAtCell should be a bit faster. Fun fact is that the populateFromArray method uses setDataAtCell internally in the same way as I showed you.
