\section{Purpose}
The mission of HackUTK is to promote student interest in the field of computer and network security through participation in and sponsorship of capture the flag competitions and related activities that inspire, develop, and empower a future generation of computer scientists.
\section{Membership}
\subsection{Eligibility}
Membership shall be a free and open to all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical or mental disability, or covered veteran status.
\subsection{Active Membership}
Members shall be considered active if they attend at least one HackUTK event per semester and register for membership in HackUTK. Active members shall be eligible to nominate members for officer positions and hold officer positions. Active members shall be eligible to travel with HackUTK to competitions, conferences, and other events if the opportunity arises.
\section{Officers and Executive Board}
\subsection{Eligibility}
Officers must be full-time students, or part-time students that are also an employee of UTK, in good academic standing and may be considered ineligible for office if on disciplinary probation for violating any student standards of conduct. Elections will be held at the end of each academic year for the following year.
\subsection{Failure to Fulfill Officer Responsibilities}
If an officer is deemed to have failed his or her officer responsibilities by a 2/3 no confidence vote of the remaining executive board, then he or she may be removed from the position which he or she held and replaced by another active member.
\subsection{Organization of Officers}
Officers: President, Vice-President, Operations Director, Media Director, Financial Director, EECS Faculty advisor
The executive board consists of the President, Vice-President, Operations Director, Media Director, Financial Director, and the EECS Faculty Advisor.
\subsection{Terms of Office}
The term of office will be from start to end of each academic year.
\section{Events and Activities}
As mentioned in our purpose statement, the purpose of the organization shall be to engage in Capture the Flag competitions and related events. To this end, HackUTK will meet once a month for general business meetings and further meetings will be held for the purpose of participating and sponsoring the events and activities aforementioned in the purpose of HackUTK.
\section*{Financial Statement}
HackUTK is a free student organization and will not collect dues from its members. Donations will be processed through the Office of Development in the College of Engineering, and the treasurer will be responsible for confirming that donations have been successfully processed. Financial expenditures must be approved by a quorum (2/3) of the standing officers of HackUTK. The Financial Director and President will have signing authority for the HackUTK account. The Treasurer will prepare an annual financial statement and budget for the coming year. The budget must be reviewed and approved by a majority of the HackUTK Executive Board and by the faculty advisor. Should HackUTK be dissolved while funds remain in its account, the remaining funds will be donated to the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee.
\section{Advisor}
The advisor must be a full-time faculty or staff member at the University of Tennessee, and the advisor shall review the budget and financial statements of the organization with the officers. The advisor shall be selected by a quorum (2/3) of the Executive Board.
\section{Amending the Constitution}
This constitution may be amended by a two thirds (2/3) majority of the Executive
Board. Any changes that affect the general membership of HackUTK must be
announced by the time that amended sections of this constitution are submitted to the University.
