I firstly report but for Debian distro:

but as man page provided upstream I've decided wrote here.

It is unclear what regex syntax supports ag.

As I know pcre library may work with different regex syntax.

Please add a note to man page with description of regex or at least reference to.

Is it http://www.pcre.org/current/doc/html/pcre2pattern.html ?

In this case at least write:

SEE ALSO
  pcre2pattern(3)
