Hi Folks. First of all, let's thanks one more time Georgi for his incredible work.
I am a journalist and former research scientist (thus my coding skills, started in 1986 on Macintosh, confirmed in 1990's with Next Computers).
Ten years ago, I coded and put on the App Store an iOS then MacOS app to accelerate manual recording transcription. The idea was to slow the player (and use signal processing to compensate the pitch to keep the voice as close to original as possible). I had since made many tests to use and circumvent Siri's (and other online tools') ability and defects, but it was not efficient, and required to send sensitive content to Apple over the Internet. So, during all these years, I spent hours to transcribe my daily interviews, accelerated by the software I had created.
Thanks to Open AI's whisper and to Whisper.cpp, my Chuchotis application for Apple-silicon-based Macs launched today, after three months of intensive tests by myself and a large set of colleagues, many working like me for Le Temps leading french-spoken Swiss daily newspaper.
My own contribution has been to improve recording audio (and video) pre-processing before transcription, based on my 10-years+ old experience, and to improve post processing for hallucination detections and re-transcription. I decided a one-time-forever reasonable price to allow most freelancers to benefit from this application.
