Hi there.
I'm thinking to help Solus project with porting codes of eopkg to python3. I'm currently running in my fork
A long time ago I did it as well (porting Pardus2011's pisi code and I renamed it as inary)
I also wanna help you to support an independent distro.
I you wanna be familiar with that issue I can help you.

Bests regards.

I don't know how you test your package manager. (for package installation to other stuffs. ) But I make it pretty runable with python3. If you test and send me bugs I can help you as much as easily.

I'm also adding other stuffs in time. I was almost busy at these days but I have some empty time due to Covid and I am available for a little time.

If you want I can continue. whether you dont, you can close that issue and merge request as well.

@Zaryob Are you still interested in working on this?

We are quite close to putting our nuitka-compiled py3 port of eopkg into production. In the end, we actually ended up also switching to your py3 port of iksemel because we couldn't get acceptable speeds out of lxml with the way we are currently using it.

@Zaryob if you want, you can join us in the Solus Development + Solus Packaging matrix rooms in the Solus matrix space at https://matrix.to/#/#solus:matrix.org ? Then you can get a chance to meet the team who has been slaving away on this and basing their efforts on your previous contributions?

Thank you very much for deciding to put in the work for that by the way -- it's helped us a great deal these past many months. 👍

@sheepman4267 Is our lead on the R&D for the eopkg py3 port, so I'm sure he'd love to hear from you in that regard. 😄

EDIT: @livingsilver94 and @joebonrichie (and of course @ikeycode ) might also like to hear from you.

Gonna leave this open until we've put all the new py3 code in production.

Will be so satisfying to be able to close this!
