What Happened?

I am downloading many gigabytes of files from a smb:// source to my local filesystem. However, Files does not show a progress indicator. I am forced to refresh the destination to observe download progress.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Connect to a Samba share
  2. Download one or many large files (greater than 1GB)
  3. Observe there is no progress indicator

Expected Behavior

I should be able to see the progress of the file downloads in a more obvious place than the dock.

OS Version

5.x (Hera)

Software Version

Latest release (I have run all updates)

Log Output

There have been a couple of bug reports in 2020 about this but I am not sure whether it fixed in the current version of elementary (7.1). See #1275. Unfortunately it looks like attempts to address fell by the wayside (see #1154). There has been some file transfer and progress related work since then but it needs to be confirmed whether this bug is still outstanding. If it is I'll try to look into it.
