Force the user to select an options

I am dealing with the use-case where we cannot accept any input except those that are provided in the autocomplete dropdown. Is there a way to force the user to select an option? Or maybe make the field invalid if they just typed something in and moved onto the next field without selecting something.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
