We can use the same TPR defined in the PR above for communicating state.
If we choose to use the node's annotation then the UI will need a separate logic for this operator.

Right now the UI has code that shows information-only data ("update available, updating" type stuff)

More fine grained settings aren't available yet, pending on adding an "UpdateGroup" TPR with configuration and such around that.

Sounds good for now.

The "UpdateGroup" thing seems less useful after an discussion we had. Let's discuss that further before pursuing it.
