How do I find all README files updated in the last 12 months, or at least sort them by the most recent date modified?

My search in the "code" brings up several pages of irrelevant results with no easy way to sort the files by date.

When I try a "Go to file" search, it rejects my attempt to sort it, saying that this is not supported.

So code can't be sorted by date ... files can't. This is such a weird interface.

Anyone have a way to do this?

You can find all README files updated in the last 12 months and sort them by the most recent date modified using the find and ls commands on a Linux or Unix-like system. Here's a command that accomplishes this:

find /path/to/search -name "README" -type f -mtime -365 -exec ls -lt {} \;

Here's what each part of the command does:

• find /path/to/search: This is the starting directory where you want to search for README files. Replace /path/to/search with the actual directory path you want to search within.

• -name "README": This specifies that you're looking for files with the name "README."

• -type f: This ensures that you're searching for regular files (not directories or other types of files).

• -mtime -365: This sets the maximum modification time to 365 days ago. It finds files modified within the last 365 days, which corresponds to the last 12 months.

• -exec ls -lt {} \;: This part of the command runs the ls command to list the matching files in long format (-l) and sort them by modification time in descending order (-t). The {} is a placeholder for the found file, and \; marks the end of the -exec command.

After running this command, you'll get a list of README files sorted by their most recent modification date, with the most recently modified README files listed first.
