updating the AST-explorer treeview

When editing a file with the ts AST-explorer treeview open, change on the editor selection should be reflected in the treeview.
The astexplor.net webs site does that correctly.
Some vscode extension use that code in a webview.

This falls under the more general rubrique : updating programmatically a treeview.
I have tried to use the undocumented treeview.reveal, to no avail.

I posted on stackoverflow about it, searched inspiration in the treeview sample, posted a RFE about it.
Discovered that json treeview updates correctly.
I noted the inline treeview in the explored side bar has a similar problem
and filed a RFE
