Getting an Aries Mobile Wallet

Need a mobile wallet app for working with production and proof of concept applications? Use these instructions to get a compatible wallet on your phone that can receive, hold and prove your verifiable credentials. There are currently these options:

BC Wallet

BC Wallet from the Government of British Columbia provides a compatible wallet for both iOS and Android. To use the app you need to install the app from the App or Play Store from the links on the BC Wallet page.

The BC Wallet comes pre-configured to work with the ledgers you are likely to encounter in running PoCs and production applications from BC Gov. The Wallet is intended primarily for the use of residents of BC, but is available to anyone as a general purpose Aries wallet.

Trinsic Wallet

Trinsic.id (formerly called Streetcred ID) provides compatible wallets for both iOS and Android. To use the BC Gov apps you need to install the wallet and do some initial setup. Please follow the setup instructions below after you install and open the Trinsic Wallet.

After installing and opening the mobile wallet, follow the instructions to configure the wallet with appropriate permissions. After setup, you will be taken to the main app screen ("Actions"). Before continuing with a BC Gov identity service, you must do some additional setup, as follows:

  • Go to settings by clicking the menu icon in the top right (the "hamburger" icon—three stacked horizontal lines)
  • Click on the "Network" item and from the subsequent list select one of the following:
    • If you are using a production app, select "Sovrin"
    • If you are using a proof-of-concept app, select "Sovrin Staging"
    • If you are using a proof-of-concept app that instructs you to use the BCovrin test ledger, select "BCovrin Test"
  • Click the back arrow to return to the settings and again to return to the main app screen.

esatus Wallet

esatus AG (English site) provides compatible Wallets for both iOS and Android. To use the app you need to install the app and do some initial setup. Please follow the setup instructions below after you install and open the esatus app.

After installing and opening the mobile wallet, follow the instructions to configure the wallet with appropriate permissions. After setup, you will be taken to the main app screen ("Welcome..."). Before continuing with a BC Gov identity service, you must do some additional setup, as follows:

  • Go to settings by clicking the cog icon in the top right
  • Click on the "Change Ledger" item and from the subsequent list select one of the following:
    • If you are using a production service, select "Sovrin MainNet"
    • If you are using a proof-of-concept service, select "Sovrin StagingNet"
    • If you are using a proof-of-concept service that instructs you to use the BCovrin test ledger, select "BCGov Test Ledger"
  • Click the back arrow to return to the settings and again to return to the main app screen.

Lissi Wallet

Lissi by the main incubator GmbH (main incubator - EN) provides a compatible wallet for both iOS and Android. To use the app you need to install the app from the App- or Play Store. Please follow the setup instructions below for the initial setup:

The BC Wallet comes pre-configured to work with the ledgers you are likely to encounter in running PoCs and production applications. The LISSI wallet contains some interesting "verify the verifier" capabilities that provide feedback about sites that the LISSI team has reviewed and deemed safe for wallet users.
