Quick annotator is intended in the long term to operate directly on whole slide images. there exist lots of support for browser-based WSI viewing via e.g., openseadragon like it is performed in the digital slide archive https://digitalslidearchive.github.io/digital_slide_archive/
Here is some user feedback below:
"Ideally, there would be a WSI view as well. This would entail incorporating a wsi viewer, and considering viewports for all tools. I do not recommend doing this for purely annotation research tools, but as a user, it would be nice :) I looked at this possibility with my TissueWand tool, but at the time there were no good candidates to use as the WSI-viewer. QuPath is GPL, which is immediately ruled out. Cytomine is too complex. Today I would seriously look at Orthanc Explorer-WSI as the WSI viewer (uses OpenLayers), if you get there https://www.orthanc-server.com/static.php?page=wsi
