It would be very convenient if, within a Thread, posts by the OP were in a different background colour or had some other means to identify them. When you get to the middle of page 3 it can be very hard to remember who started a Thread and whether you should respond to a post (by the OP) or not if it was argumentative and by someone else.

I suggest that this should only be considered ONLY if it is a standard option within the SMF forum system.

I would like to bump this suggestion (or at least, agree with it).

Often when you are up to page 2 or 3 of a thread, if someone asks a question or makes a comment, you are not sure if this is the Original Poster clarifying his/her post or adding new information, or just someone else adding some random point.

It would be easy enough to add "(Original Poster)" to somewhere and not take up too much room. For example, next to the date of the post (maybe "By Original Poster" in that position).
