Larvel Mix Version #10

I have noticed that this package is using Laravel mix ^1.7.2.

Now this is quite an old version of mix as the current version is ^4.0.7.

So my issue is that I have tried to upgrade and run into lots of problems which is was expecting as the version change is quite large.

Has any one done this upgrade and can give me some advice as I would prefer not to be running on such an old version of mix?
