In one of my inversion runs, the adjoint simulation did not complete successfully. The SPECFEM3D_cartesian generated output_solver.txt file was incomplete. On looking at the sflog.txt file, the "RUN ADJOINT SIMULATIONS" showed that the adjoint simulation completed successfully. The error message only showed up two sections later in the "EVALUATE GRADIENT FROM KERNELS" section of the sflog.txt file as "OPTIMIZATION GRADIENT ERROR", which was caused by the adjoint simulations not completing successfully in first place. This seems like a potential bug in logging. If possible, it will be very helpful to know exactly where the workflow failed for swift troubleshooting.
