Concerns about battery usage

Hi, I'd love to use this software (and even try to make some custom wallpapers for my riced kde) but I have a question
I'm fine with an animated wallpaper when charging and when full, but I have concerns regarding how much battery it would use.
I sometimes need my laptop for a while to take university notes and not always there is a plug.

Does it keep updating the wallpaper when discharging? And if so how much does it consume? And (I swear this is the last question) if so could it be disabled xD?
