Timestamps

As far as I can see running the software results in timestamps for when the files was downloaded, not when the photos was taken. Can this be resolved?

Do you mean creation datetime of a file in the filesystem?

I suggest to use EXIF properties of pictures instead, they should have creation date, location and other useful data.

When I access the exif-data it seems to be blank.
Edit: At least on HEIC-images.
Am I doing something wrong?

The error I get when running "exif file" on ubuntu:
Corrupt data
The data provided does not follow the specification.
ExifLoader: The data supplied does not seem to contain EXIF data.
