I use both this mod and the mod Mowzie's Mobs. That mod adds mobs such as the Barakoa that are hostile to the player, but the guards are not hostile towards them. In addition killing these mobs causes the player to lose reputation when in a village region. Would it be possible to add a config setting of sorts to be able to add/remove mobs being treated as hostile to the guards and removing rep when killed by the player?

I like this idea. We could add a white list config option, and/or a blacklist.

Cool! Perhaps it would also be appropriate to be able to add whether they give reputation as well.

+1 to this idea. I'm using Lycanites mobs, which add dozens of new hostile creatures. Sadly, defending oneself from any of them causes me to lose reputation.

A separate "integrations" mod could be created if things like this are too troublesome to add into the base mod. The Vampirism mod does something similar - they just added a feature to have Vampires interact with Sentries and Guards: TeamLapen/VampirismIntegrations#10 (comment)

Any chance the whitelist/blacklist option is possible? Using lycanite and was hoping I could configure the mobs to help me.
