Are translations possible #291
Comments
I think before we can start with translating, we should rather clear our backlog with all the other issues/improvements. But I mean, its programming. (Almost) everything is possible if you spend enough time doing it. Before you (or anyone) spends time on that, please write another comment and get the opinion of more people. I personally do not like translations, they create an issue as soon as they get outdated. |
Here is a guide on how to translate it: https://sylvaindurand.org/making-jekyll-multilingual/ When I promote NewPipe to Spanish speakers, I'd like to link to a website written in Spanish. Non-technical users who don't speak English face two problems: the technical problem and the language problem. When I find some time, I can help translate it.
When you update the English one, you can put a notice on the other languages that says that the article is not up-to-date, until someone updates the translation. In any case, I don't think the landing page will change a lot. |
Not sure if there already is some translation stuff within the website, but if not, consider having i18n support added to the site if Jekyll and Bootstrap support it.
Considering that the app itself is already being actively translated in several languages, I believe there is no issue finding people willing to also translate the website. :)
In regards to pages such as blogs and legal stuff could there be a simple translatable notice (banner) that the site can't be translated due to technical limitations or legal reasons.
