N64 games not loading

Describe the bug
Nintendo 64 games are not loading. I tried several different games.
When I start the game, it shows the loading animation and the message that I can access the settings via L3+R3 but then just jumps back to the game selection overview. No error displayed.
The games do work on a raspberry pi with retropie.
Sega Megadrive games work as expected.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Copy Games to Device
2. Click on Scan
3. Click on Nintendo64 Game
4. See brief loading sequence and watch it go back to the game selection screen.

Expected behavior
I would expect the game to start or to show an error message.
Is there a way to get some debugging output?

• GPU: Mali 450 750 MHz
