Limitations of WGLMakie backend (tracking issue)

WGLMakie support in Sunny is experimental. Consider using GLMakie instead for a more reliable experience. This page will track remaining compatibility issues:

Serious problems:

• Inconsistent activation of widgets (Inconsistent mouse-over activation of widgets in WGLMakie MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3752)
• "Key-not found" in interactive scenes (Interactive WGLMakie figure throws errors MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3781)
• Unclear error message if the Jupyter notebook editor is incompatible (Suggest supported Jupyter notebook editors if WGLMakie incompatibility is detected MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3769)

Aesthetic problems:

• DataInspector and overdraw incompatibility (WGLMakie DataInspector does not cover everything MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3773)

Already resolved or mitigated:

• Missing fonts for some characters (WGLMakie DataInspector is missing some font characters MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3516). Will be fixed in actually update texture atlas on change MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3737.
• Fix transforming surface normals MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3722
• Mouse-over lines does not give reliable information (Strange behavior when inspecting lines in WGLMakie MakieOrg/Makie.jl#3672) A good workaround is to use arrows instead of linesegments.
• Cannot vendor WGLMakie custom fonts A workaround is to select from the Makie built-in fonts.
