Open wake word issue?

So background audio processing open wake word works for me and it will ding and listen then it stops understanding anything I say beyond that like what's the weather it won't hear me or say it can't understand me . if I turn open wakeword off then it's fine if I manually click the mic icon and ask the same questions.

I hope that explains my issue I'm very new to software and stuff and don't know much yet but I'm trying to be as clear as possible still not knowing how to explain it well. Sorry 😅
