Hi,

I am currently looking at a Sitecore solution that uses Unicorn (and transparent sync). But it starts really slowly (4-5 minutes if it even gets this far). When I monitor the log file I can see that Creating caches is taking for ever (or at least that is what the timestamps are leading me to believe). Another developer told me to just cut the unicorn config files from Sitecore and let it start without the unicorn configs. Without the those configs Sitecore starts up in under a minute. The solution currently has about 60 000 (sixty thousand) items in Unicorn (about 325 MB). Is this normal behavior?

Some more information:
I've been told that the test, accept and production environments are fast and they don't use transparent sync. But I know recall other projects (in the past), where other people added Unicorn, that those environments started up way slower after Unicorn was added (even without Transparent sync). These are environments with ranging from a few thousands to tens of thousands of items in Unicorn.

Sitecore version: 9.0.1
Unicorn version: 4.0.4

Kind regards,
Jaap

After discussing with another developer I decided to turn limits on the caching and now the site starts somewhat faster.

Please collect Performance profile of Sitecore in docker or onPrem using perfView.

That will show exactly on what tasks time is spent.

Thanks.
