Feature: support AirSane

I have a big need for the scanner functionality in my Brother DCP-7055W. Unfortunately Brother is either dragging it's feet, or will abandon my model for MacOS 11. I found this wonderfull project https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane

Any way we could roll in libsane and airsane into this somehow?
(I'd be willing to do PR's, but i've never worked with sane before)

Also, is cups-dbus-avahi IPC dead in the water? Looks like we're doing this by hand now, since cups can't talk to avahi at all :/

@elfhack puh, sure you can give it a shot and send me a PR. I haven't done anything with sane, so I don't know if I can be of help.

I don't have a use case nor an option to test this. If anyone out there is willing to give it a shot I'm more than happy to support it.

If you get it to run on your location installation, submit a PR.

@ghost, this is not really solving this feature request but rather outlines an alternative, which might be even better for you: I also have a DCP 7055W and I scan perfectly fine on macOS 14 using VueScan. This piece of software has been religiously maintained for over 25 years now, I personally have been using it for 15 years now. It's one time $20 unless you need advanced features like auto-crop, etc.

Sorry for off topic, but since PM are not possible anymore, @ghost, does the printing works with this container with the Brother DCP 7055W btw? Care to share your CUPS_LPADMIN_PRINTER config lines?
