There's nothing indicating you can drag and drop mods onto the GUI to load it. Also there's nothing indicating that you have successfully dropped a mod onto the GUI and it's currently being loaded.
I get there's a tutorial, but it would still be helpful for the UI to give a "Drag and Drop mod here" message. Additionally, because it takes a while for the mod to load and there's no feedback indicating whether or not it has received your mod, the user is not aware that the mod is being loaded. Oftentimes I find myself trying to install the same mod multiple times because I was led to believe that I did not successfully drag and drop the first mod into the UI. A "install mod" message will be helpful here.

To add onto this, dragging and dropping a mod with one game in context does not guarantee it installs in that game, but rather a completely different game.
