This also looks like a strong contender |
Hi @kgf, I'd like to take this on! |
That sounds great, thanks! |
@allanlburns Are you making any progress ? Anything I could do to help ? |
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for reaching out! Sorry for the radio silence the last two months--I definitely fell down a Python rabbit hole and have been working on a course with that.
I originally lost momentum working on the geocoding after not being able to set up the environment correctly, which is what you and Sean helped me with the last project night I attended. I just got distracted after that.
Time for me to get back on the horse, I think! I did have one main question--do have a strong preference for the API-based method that we had discussed, or a Gem? I've seen both in the research I did. What would be the tradeoffs for each approach?
I'll be traveling the next couple of weeks for training for my new job. Last week I accepted an offer with the German software company Acrolinx and next week flying to Berlin for three weeks of training. I don't know what my days will be like, but if I have anything left at the end of the day, I'll try to work on ReadyResponder. Aside from any questions I have, I'll try to check in with you in about two weeks.
Thanks again! On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 7:32:21 PM EDT, Kevin Fallon <[email protected]> wrote:

@allanlburns In answer to your question, that may depend on there being a gem available. The gem can often provide a lot of nice DSL syntactic sugar. |

One possible provider is https://locationiq.org/pricing.
Google is not an option at this time, as they want a large licensing fee if your site is not open to the public.
