I think this must be a bug with either your system's screenshot app or the KDE XDG desktop portals, so I'd suggest reporting it upstream.
Pinta doesn't actually take the screenshot itself, and uses the XDG screenshot portal to take the screenshot using the system tool (this is necessary when sandboxed via Flatpak, Snap, etc). So it ends up just opening whatever image is given to it by the screenshot portal
