Description
the default color palette is supposed to have 48 colors, but it only has 34. it is missing the darkest set of colors. using the pallet menu to increase the number of colors in the palette to 48 just yields a bunch of blank white color slots. resetting it to default in the menu doesn't do anything and simply puts it back to 34 colors.

Ah, I think this was lost in #154. I presume it was done to fit nicely into the status bar which only has a large enough height for two colours, but I don't object to re-adding the missing colours if there's a good layout (ideally still producing a nice gradient)

For reference, this was the old palette widget in Pinta 1.7

Maybe it could work like one of these options? If you think it doesn't look too messy or confusing.

The vertical layout looks decent to me 👍
The version with splits looks a bit better, but is probably a bit more involved since I don't think the palette file formats can describe that grouping?
