App hangs in background

Describe the bug
If an application goes in background while a map is rendered, the app becomes unresponsive indefinitely.
This behaviour is not deterministic and happens only some times (20 - 30%)

To Reproduce
On the Navigine Demo application:
1: Open the app
2: Select a location
3: Press the 'Navigation' tab and wait for the map to render
4: Put the app in background
5: Wait a few seconds and put the app in foreground

Note: repeat steps 4 and 5 if needed.

Expected behavior
The app is responsive and ready to use.
