App doesn't function above limit

I use a rooted Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 6.0.1
When I used 4.4, the old BCL app worked perfectly.
The app has a very high chance to not stop the phone from charging when it is activated while the battery is above the set limit, i.e. starting the app with the limit 57% when the battery is at 82% just makes the charging icon disappear, while the phone continues to charge up to 100%.
