As the name contains the original project name, meanwhile it might be reasonable to rename it to something more general, e.g. agentMet4IIoT.

That sounds reasonable and I understand the motivation for it. Yet, my gut feeling prefers to maintain it as it is..! Aside from the massive refactoring needed, I think on principle, it's actually good to be reminded of its origin.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Another option would be to fork the project, do the refactoring in the fork and then keep working there. Like this the origins would stay visible for everyone. @anupam-prasad As the idea came up in a discussion between us, could you share your thoughts and maybe some context for the renaming idea.
