Mage_Test

Test framework and test suite for Magento

Installation

Mage_Test is designed to be installed and updated via modman. Modman can use either composer, or a git repository to install modules

Installing with composer :

1. Add to your composer.json

"require-dev": {
    "mageplus/magetest": "dev-master"
},

Until this gets added to packagist, you'll need to configure the repository as well:

"repositories": [
    {
        "type": "vcs",
        "url": "https://github.com/mageplus/Mage_Test"
    }
],

Then run composer update.

You'll probably want to add all of the new symlink'd files to your .gitignore here.

2. Then configure it

You'll need to create a copy of your database for the tests to run against.

mysqladmin -u{username} -p{password} create {database_name}_phpunit
mysqldump -u{username} -p{password} {database_name} > var/{database_name}.sql
mysql -u{username} -p{password} {database_name}_phpunit < var/{database_name}.sql

Now, setup your local.xml:

cp app/etc/local.xml.phpunit.template app/etc/local.xml.phpunit

And drop your database credentials and such in.

3. Run it

Then clear cache and run this from your Magento root.

rm -rf var/cache/
vendor/bin/phpunit UnitTests.php

Installing without composer :

1. Prerequisites

Make sure that you have PHPUnit installed

If you haven't already initialised modman, change into your Magento document root and initialise

cd /path/to/your/magento/install
modman init

2. Clone the repository

modman clone git://github.com/mageplus/Mage_Test.git

3. Then configure it

You'll need to create a copy of your database for the tests to run against.

mysqladmin -u{username} -p{password} create {database_name}_phpunit
mysqldump -u{username} -p{password} {database_name} > var/{database_name}.sql
mysql -u{username} -p{password} {database_name}_phpunit < var/{database_name}.sql

Now, setup your local.xml:

cp app/etc/local.xml.phpunit.template app/etc/local.xml.phpunit

And drop your database credentials and such in.

4. Run it

Then clear cache and run this from your Magento root.

rm -rf var/cache/
phpunit UnitTests.php
