VPN Subscription Services

  • Mullvad - Mullvad is an open-source commercial VPN service based in Sweden.

  • Proton - ProtonVPN is a VPN service operated by the Swiss company Proton Technologies AG, the company behind the email service ProtonMail.

  • Windscribe - Windscribe is a commercial VPN service provider located in Canada.

  • FeeePN - FreePN is the first open-source peer-to-peer VPN service.

Self-hosted

  • OpenVPN - OpenVPN is a virtual private network (VPN) system that implements techniques to create secure point-to-point or site-to-site connections in routed or bridged configurations and remote access facilities. It implements both client and server applications.

  • WireGuard - WireGuard is an extremely simple yet fast and modern VPN that utilizes state-of-the-art cryptography. It aims to be faster, simpler, leaner, and more useful than IPsec, while avoiding the massive headache.

  • SoftEther - SoftEther VPN is free open-source, cross-platform, multi-protocol VPN client and VPN server software.

  • OpenConnect - OpenConnect is a cross-platform multi-protocol SSL VPN client which supports a number of VPN protocols.

  • Peervpn - PeerVPN is a software that builds virtual ethernet networks between multiple computers.

  • VpnHood - VpnHood is a hybrid VPN, captures all packets throw a packet filter driver, same as many other VPNs but establishes connections like a socks proxy without any fingerprint.

  • DSVPN - Dead Simple VPN - small (~25 KB), works out of the box, run a single-line command on the server and a similar one on the client and you're done.

  • Amnezia - Amnezia is a VPN client with the key feature of deploying your own VPN server on you virtual server.

  • n2n - n2n is a light VPN software which makes it easy to create virtual networks bypassing intermediate firewalls.

  • ipsec-vpn - An IPsec VPN encrypts your network traffic, so that nobody between you and the VPN server can eavesdrop on your data as it travels via the Internet. This is especially useful when using unsecured networks, e.g. at coffee shops, airports or hotel rooms.

  • Pritunl - Enterprise Distributed OpenVPN and IPsec Server

  • sshuttle - Transparent proxy server that works as a poor man's VPN.

  • ZeroTier - Peer-to-peer multi-platform VPN

  • Mysterium Network - Open-source VPN client and server software. It can be used to sell your spare bandwidth for cryptocurrency.

  • tinc - Peer-to-peer VPN software with mesh routing.

  • Shadowsocks - Secure SOCKS proxy used in China for bypassing the Great Firewall.
