Toolbar show/hide column button

I am facing an issue where I see the show/hide option in individual column more menu but I dont see all the columns in the toolbar show/hide menu. I only see the row numbers in that one. However in that menu, the show all and hide all works. But I would like to see all the columns as well. What configuration am I missing ? We are using renderTopToolbarCustomActions btw to add some buttons on the left. Also our columns are variable and get passed in as props after a network call has finished.
