[Linux] Is this game Lock-up issue OneLauncher or...just LOTRO? #74

Heya,

Sorry if this is a non-issue, but as there are some error entries in OneLauncher's log, I thought I'd post it here. Today I had numerous lock-ups that made the game unplayable. I haven't changed my system or anything either.

If it has nothing to do with OneLauncher, that's AOK, and sorry for the intrusion.

I don't fully understand why it says "Reporting AMD GPU" when I have a NVIDIA one, as the log also reports, hehe.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary in the log, but can you describe the lock-up issues in more detail?
It's unlikely to be OneLauncher specific, but the information could still be useful.
The mentions of AMD GPU are part of a DXVK feature.

Sure, so I started playing normally, then everything in LOTRO only froze. I could use other programs and the Internet connection was fine too. After a while LOTRO would catch up. But this happened repeatedly - the worst ones were rendering ones in Missions (e.g. Gundabad missions).

I also checked aother game to make sure it wasn't my hardware, graphics setup etc and that worked fine with no system changes than just playing LOTRO. And I pretty much only ever launch LOTRO through OneLauncher so I hadn't mixed up the launchers either.

I don't know if that helps or not. It might just be a LOTROism, as I said, but as OneLauncher is, you know, unofficial, I thought best check here first. Hope that was okay?

I just ran a test and the game run through Lutris is currently running okay, but using OneLauncher I am getting the freezes.

OneLauncher has also taken to capturing the cursor for some weird reason, despite it being switched off in UserPreferences.ini

Update:
I switched off "Auto Manage Wine", which I had recently enabled.

  • The cursor is not being captured any more
  • I haven't had a freeze or lock-up for the same length of time as my Lutris-launched test.

My Manual Wine Settings

Wine Prefix: /home/myusername/Games/the-lord-of-the-rings-onlinetm
Wine Executable: /home/myusername/.var/app/net.lutris.Lutris/data/lutris/runners/wine/lutris-GE-Proton8-2-x86_64/bin/wine

(Wine executable is the same as the one used in Lutris for consistency of the test)
