We expect a CONTRIBUTING.md similar to https://github.com/JabRef/help.jabref.org/blob/gh-pages/CONTRIBUTING.md. It should also contain screenshots of usage of the list. Meaning: Text of https://github.com/JabRef/help.jabref.org/blob/gh-pages/en/JournalAbbreviations.md has to appear here.

Following steps are too straight-forward:

  1. Get a GitHub account
  2. Add the file to https://github.com/JabRef/abbrv.jabref.org/tree/master/journals
  3. Add the file to https://github.com/JabRef/abbrv.jabref.org/blob/master/journals/README.md sorted in alphabetically.
  4. Create a pull request on this repository.

I nevertheless created a minimal CONTRIBUTING.md (https://github.com/JabRef/abbrv.jabref.org/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) to have a start.

I've got one question concerning non-ASCII characters (e.g. Zeitschrift für...).
When running an integrity check, Jabref complains about non-ASCII characters, but changing it (to f{\"{u}}r) generates the error: "Journal not found in abbreviation list".

Should we put two entries in the files? One with and one without non-ASCII characters?

Use the Umlauts (UTF8). Single entry.

Please file a feature request in the JabRef repo. We should be UTF8 first. When using in BibTeX, JabRef should "magically" convert the characters.

I did not add screenshots, but quite some more details to the CONTRIBUTING.md in #67
