Web Monetization may be a useful alternative to Open Collective for fundraising, proposed by @AlexLakatos

Lots of open questions around where the money would be held, who'd have access, what it'd be spent on, etc. Opening this issue to explore the idea and help sort those things out.

I wouldn't call it an alternative, I'd call it a complement. Web Monetization revenue is based on time spent on-page. As something with quite a bit of words on it, the Web Almanac would be well suited to it.
