Question on model fitting CP #4333
-
I've been getting into Golden Cheetah to track my -cycling- training, but have a question on CP. In the CP model fitting video it is explained that the model's best used with 7 minute power. While that makes sense to me from the video, when I look at the three CP models in GC (2 and 3 parameter and the GC one), only the GC 'extended CP' model has a search interval at 7 minutes. The other 2 models start their aerobic intervals at 10 and 12 minutes. So could someone explain why you'd use a seven minute test if the other models don't consider that time interval? Purely from a testing perspective it looks like wasted effort right? Best, Marc |

The search interval settings only apply for an envelope fit. In general the best practice we recommend is to use performance tests and OLS fitting. But of course, you cannot travel back in time so the envelope fit is a compromise for historic data. |

When using a least squares fit with performance tests the 7 minute test is valuable.
