After looking through the program files I found some language packs and spellcheck settings but I have been unable to locate anywhere in the program where I can change these settings. Is this only half implemented or is the settings just quite hidden or is it based on some other environment settings?

I opted into the spellcheck without thinking about it much. There is no settings for it in the UI, sorry. If you are getting lots of spelling errors for valid words due to a language setting, that would be annoying. How is it behaving for you, and how do you expect it to work?

I believe english works fine, I haven't used it much, but it was a bit confusing to get red lines but not any corrections like you do in almost any other thing with spell check. The errors are a bit annoying when typing in other languages, I'm working in a non-english speaking team and we will therefore likely have commit messages in our native language.
