[FEATURE REQ] Deduplication of regression points in config file

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently, the *_regression_points arrays in the config files are duplicated across multiple objects.

This can lead to duplication across the config file.

Describe the solution you'd like
e.g. a new regression points object to be introduced to be referenced by other objects inside the config file.

Hi! Sorry, did not see this one!
So, i think it might make sense, I am not sure whether it is feasible though!
If you already know how to do it, patches are more than welcome :)
