Porting our Merkle tree and NMT implementations to Go will be a lot of work, so in the beginning we plan to mock the validation. A middle ground might be to create a trusted RPC written in Rust, which takes the Merkle proofs (which the Go node gets from HotShot and treats as uninterpreted blobs) and returns valid or not.
