One issue I'm having with FCP 10.8 is the application freezing (but no spinning rainbow wheel) when I make any adjustments in the Viewer - Transform Tool, trying to change text of a title, moving something around. It all works fine in the Inspector and it works fine when using my Monogram Video Console + CommandPost...
I saw one or two other people post about this on X.
To troubleshoot, I've done the following (but have more to do):
Updated to the latest version of Sonoma
Uninstalled / Reinstalled FCP
Opened Compressor & Motion to clear the "What's New..." pop-up window
No progress.
Anyone else having this issue?
It's more like the app is hanging for a really long time. If I wait 5 or so minutes, it'll recover and I can use the app again no problem.
When I right-click the application icon in the dock, the pop-up menu does show "Application Not Responding"
This issue is also happening on my 14" M1 Pro MacBook Pro but it IS NOT happening on my M2 Pro Mac mini.
Going to reset prefs now...

So it seems the issue is specific to the newer Magic Trackpad and the trackpad on Mac notebooks.
If you disable Tap to click in Settings > Trackpad you can interact with elements in the Viewer window without any issue.
If you disable Use trackpad for dragging in Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control > Trackpad Options you can drag elements in the Viewer window.
So, yeah. I'm guessing enabling the ability to drag and drop effects from the Inspector onto the Viewer window may have caused this bug?
Of course none of this affects FCP if you're using a Magic Mouse, Mighty Mouse or 3rd party mouse.
This also doesn't affect FCP if you're using the older AA battery-powered Magic Trackpad
