DESCRIBE THE BUG:
Someone sent me a project with all the media offline. The Viewer shows the "Missing Plugin" Red Error Message in the Viewer. However, this is incorrect - there's no plugin missing, it's just that the media is offline, because I haven't relinked it yet.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR:
If the media is offline, Final Cut Pro should instead show the "Missing Media" Red Error Message in the Viewer.

SPECS:

  • 2021 16-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Max, 64GB RAM, 8TB SSD)
  • macOS Sonoma 14.1.2
  • Final Cut Pro 10.7.1

It's still happening, especially with Motion VFX PlugIns; strangely, the messages that a PlugIn stopped working seem to have completely disappeared, now only red squares. Often, a restart of FCP fixes it. Sometimes, they seem to come back even without a restart. All very strange
