Seems to be interfering with Google Sheets in Firefox #387
Comments
Same issue happened to me latest chrome on archlinux. I cannot use ctrl-f. |
It also causes the Conditional Formatting and Alternating Colors sidebars to not appear |
Another +1 on the pile here. After disabling the extension, things started working again. This isn't the first time this has happened, apparently: https://support.google.com/docs/thread/117371100/ Windows 10, |
+1 for me. Facing this issue on Google Sheets on FF in MacOS. Most of the functionality is on but I am not seeing the following things:
Took me much longer to debug this. |
And another +1. Seen on FF with Fedora 40, trying to export sheet as PDF does not work, disabling this extension and reloading the page allows it to work. |
+1 , on ubuntu24.02 FF125.0.2 , cant delete sheet on Google Sheet. |
+1 in Firefox 131.0 on Windows 11 with ClearURLs 1.26.1 |
+1 in Chrome on Ubuntu 24.04 with ClearURLs 1.26.0 |
+1 in Firefox on Windows 10 with ClearURLs 1.26.1 I also cannot resize columns |
+1 on this, can't find and replace on sheets, took 1 hour to find the culprit |
+1 here, can't open Extensions->Apps Script. ClearURLs 1.26.0 |
Just noticed how I cannot get to conditional formatting, alternating colours, or the URL editor. Possibly a lot more features that are broken. This is a pretty obvious problem, one that can only be worked around only by disabling the addon. And since it's been open for 2 weeks, it can mean 1 of 3 things:
|
These other issues all appear to me to be describing the same problem as this issue...
|
same problem. OperaGX |
This still occurs with all extension options disabled, and the data/rules URLs removed. I couldn't remove all requests because the field kept resetting, but I replaced it with only |
@welwood08 Creating duplicate issues is not a sin. It's mildly annoying for the developer, but mainly it emphasises urgency. More importantly though, this is not an isolated incident. This happened before, multiple times, on multiple websites. There is no indication of anything going wrong that points to this addon, so every time it's a hunt for which addon is throwing a wrench into the works. Especially since every time, ClearURLs isn't the type of addon to be a prime suspect for the problem at hand. After all, what does it have to do with a side panel or a popup? It seems this addon requires some serious rewriting in order to be more reliable, and to not interfere in places where its nose doesn't belong. As it stands now, I just cannot trust this addon anymore - I can't use Firefox reliably and predictably with it enabled. I'm not going call mal-intent, but I can't get myself to have this addon around anymore. I hope it gets some serious reliable permanent fixes soon, but I shall keep my expections on the low side, given how long issues tend to be ignored. |
I also have issues with Google Sheets, but I'm using Chrome. These errors in the console might give some pointers: Here is the exact code line where the first error happens: Addon/core_js/google_link_fix.js Line 41 in deec80b
|
I meant no criticism, merely to ensure all relevant information is collected in one place (since there are multiple issue trackers) and to highlight that it has been an issue for a long time.
If that's really the root of the problem, it may be fixed with an undefined check that was added a few months ago. |
I'm having the same issue with this extension and the "An error occurred" modal that opens, blocking me from opening any sheets. I'm using Firefox. I'm adding some keywords here for people to find this thread. |
+1 to this. When the extension is enabled, I can't Ctrl-F, nor do the links in cells create the small pop up when clicked on. |
+1 anything link related doesn't work. Ctrl+k, insert link button, insert tab then create link all broken. |
+1. Could there be (or is there already) a feature to disable the plugin on one site only, like adblockers have? |
Hi. Firefox 132.0 on Xubuntu 20. Had to disable the extension as well. The following features were suddenly doing nothing at all in Sheets (no tool appearing, no error logs in the console, no effect on the spreadsheet, etc.):
I like this extension a lot so I agree with those asking for the ability to enable or disable it on specific websites. Turning off the “Filter” toggle of the extension does not seem to be enough, unfortunately (which first led me to wrongly believe that the extension was not at fault). Strangely enough, I think it worked like 1–2 weeks ago, while other users here seem to ran in those issues a bit earlier. 🤔 |
It was causing some issues with Google Sheets ClearURLs/Addon#387
Windows 10, Firefox, can't delete tabs. |
Breaks diagrams in Sheets too. As well as breaking some menu buttons (nothing happens on click.) |
+1 I had to disable the extension as well, causes issues on Firefox on macOS. Any floating widgets don't work on firefox with Google Docs suite. |
+1 : I cannot use Custom number formatting or Delete a sheet table within spreadsheet. It's all tied to modal I guess |
+1 for FireFox on MacOS |
+1 Chromium on Windows 10 |
+1 Firefox Win11 |
+1 Firefox on Win11 |
In Firefox I recently was unable to use cmd-f to open the sheets search modal. Going to Edit menu > Find & Replace, similarly nothing.
I was also unable to delete a sheet. The menu would pop up but when i click delete, nothing.
I tried Firefox troubleshooting mode, and everything was resolved. Finally I disabled all extensions and re-enabled them one at a time. CleanURLs seems to be the culprit (somehow).
Clean URLs version: 1.26.1
FF: 130.0.1
