Handling of expired dev versions?

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I really only work on my orbs sporadically, often several months apart. So of course every time I go 90 days between publishing a dev version, that first build fails because the dev:alpha version it depends on has expired.
It's frustrating, and I'm not sure what the best way is to deal with it.

Describe the solution you'd like
I'm all open to whatever solutions or suggestions people may have. I'm curious to find out what others are doing when/if they encounter this.
