How can i enable adblock in this app?

In fact, an AdBlock is enabled by default (or should be). However some of the rules may be out of date and not all ads are expected to be blocked.

Check ./src/common.js DEBUG object, adBlock property. Should be set true.

If that doesn't work for what you're looking at, or you need more ads blocked, we're happy to accept PRs that extend the adBlock rules already present in the codebase. They should be easy to find if you're keen on this work.

Alternately, we'd also be happy to accept work incorporating Page.setAdBlockEnabled. Changes should be minimal if you'd like to try.

Finally, if none of those suit, there is the option of awaiting our upcoming developer API which should expose more comprehensive extension functionality, including surface to possibly attach existing adblocking extensions, or chopped-up modified versions of these as could be expected by a first-pass test of integrating more comprehensive extension-like surface in future.

Unfortunately, the current status of Chrome's new headless (--headless=new) is unstable (at least in our tests). We push the browser platform pretty hard to do what we do at BrowserBox, and Chrome's nascent --headless=new is currently not compatible with our demanding work. We expect that situation will shift in future with the Chrome team evolving headless new into a more stable, performant and robust form. But as yet the jury is out as to whether that will happen at all, and if it does, when it will be.

Best of luck with your ad blocking explorations with BrowserBox! Don't forget there's always DNS host ad-blocking, which should work fine with BrowserBox. Just integrate your favorite 3rd-party on the server you run BB, and it will all be fine. Please note that we don't provide support for integrating 3rd-party adblock tools like this, but just a tip that's hope is helpful.
