Thanks for your work.
I discovered viewfinderjs recently and currently testing it for homelab usage.
Working on ansible role for it here https://github.com/juju4/ansible-viewfinderjs (native or docker setup)

Some comments

• any plan to address npm audit results (3 command injection in base module, 3 more vulnerabilities in custom-launcher)
• same for npm outdated
• in my native build, I remove your browsers cgroup and sudo usage as using a dedicated user and starting service with restricted systemd including cgroups. It seems fine to run service but getting VF initial progress bar loading, completing and after nothing. some errors in chrome-err.log but not clear on root cause.
• in docker build, any plan to switch to an alpine docker image or similar with small footprint? current docker image (7 months old) is 2.41GB which is big even if includes X11 and chromium...
• docker setup with ansible role works, even if need to manually start the docker image for some reason. but some pages browsing auto-close like youtube.com. any ideas how to troubleshoot? not much in docker logs <containerid>
• any advice to improve rendering? I understand, it's server side and after pass to client but if any optimization available that may depends on user client setup, that might help

Yes. I plan to address both these.

Interesting. If you share your systemd setup and it looks good I might include it, if you approve.

Hard to say without knowing more, but it's likely a permissions issue with Chrome. You could throw open the browser DevTools console to see what errors you're getting reported in the client. Alternately you could rebuild the Docker with DEBUG.val set to non-zero (in common.js) and connect to Docker and view the output to try to see what errors you're getting.

Yes I plan to do that. It's too large as is.

It could be down to cgroups/systemd killing the tab process because your resource limits are too tight. Especially heavy sites like youtube will spin up quite a bit of CPU particularly tab load.

VF Regular has limited options to improve the rendering, that's mostly a Pro feature but some things you can do are tune the image quality and time between shot settings inside zombie-lord/screenShot.js

I will release a new docker image soon that may improve some of these.
