The official (?) website offers version 1.2.0 for Linux.

In docear: When I use the button help->"Auf Updates prüfen..." it tolds me there is a 1.5.2.

That is a big difference. So what is it about? Is 1.2.0 the last stable version?

This misleadingly seems to refers to the newest freeplane version (whereas this is already at 1.5.18 right now).

@buhtz It seems pretty dead to me. The source of the information? Just look to this repository and the forum and the website, there isn't any change for more then an year. I use Docear every day and I haven't seen any change for a while.

I have to admit that there was not much activity with the Docear development and all I can say is that I really would like to continue the development but currently, I just don't have the required time and manpower. So, I don't know if the Docear development will some day again be active.

@Joeran Sad to hear. Docear is the best tool I found to help me on my thesis. After Mendeley, Zotero, and others, Docear is the one who completely fills the gap. I would love to see it advances, I already feel the lack of some features (for example, custom fields on reference manager, updated freeplane, etc).

I see too much students lost in the way they organize the information they need to write and think about their projects. I'm thinking to give a mini course about Docear on next scientific event we have at university.
